| Altai-Koks Summarizes 2009 Environmental Activities |
OAO Altai-Koks spent about RUR 42 million in 2009 on implementing various environmental protection measures aimed at reducing the ecological impact of production. As a result, the Company was able to reduce the total amount of pollutants emitted into the atmosphere by almost 5%.
Key projects included repairing the collector systems and ammonia disposal pipes in Coke Section No. 3, installing a liquid fuel discharge unit for heating plant cisterns, and assembling reserve pipelines in the Recovery Section.
Most manufacturing divisions carried out repairs of coke chamber doors, replaced coke oven doorframes, reset the oven walls of coke batteries and refurbished their air cleaning systems.
One hundred young coniferous and deciduous trees were planted on the territory of the Special Coke Chemical Equipment Repair Section.
